"Hangover" Pill Sure Cure For Drinking
(10 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, Dec. 13. Dr. Erik Jacobsen, of Copenhagen, worked hard on a “deworming” pill, and found he had' invented a sure cure for excessive drinking and, in fact, for any kind of drinking, reports the British United Press correspondent. Like a good research scientist, Dr. Jacobsen first tried his pills on himself. He went to dinner, and found to his astonishment that he could not drink anything alcoholic without going scarlet in the face and becoming very short of breath. That was during the war. Since then colleagues of Dr. Jacobsen have treated more than 500 chronic alcoholics. Nine out of 10 of them are cured. If they ever feel like going on a “binge,” they just take one pill and then a glass of wine. They get a hangover at once so badly they never want to see another drop of liquor again. Incidentally, the pill is no good for deworming, but Dr. Jacobsen says you can't have everything.
