DUTCH-INDONESIAN PARLEYS BREAK DOWN COMPLETELY
(11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 12. It is officially admitted that the Dutch negotiations with the Indonesian republic for a settlement of the three-year-old Indonesian dispute have completely broken down, says Reuter’s correspondent at The Hague.
A Dutch Government communique said the continuance of the present talks was purposeless unless the Republic was prepared to alter radically its standpoint on the observance o'f the recent truce. The communique said the next move was that the Dutch Government must institute an Interim Government in Indonesia immediately and transfer great authority to it. The Dutch Government had, therefore, informed the Good Offices Committee that the decree for the administration of Indonesia in the interim period must now be proclaimed.
The Dutch Government would keep open the possibility of the incorporation of the Republic into the interim system later.
