GISBORNE YACHTSMEN WIN CUP AT TUAI
There were no races conducted in Poverty Bay this we'ek-end by the Gisborne Yacht Club because a number of the usual participants were paying a visit to the Whakamarino Boating Club at Tuai.
Winds were light on the lake and it was necessary for the skippers to make use of the liner points of sailing. The Gisborne boys, sailing the home club yachts, registered a success by a small margin to win the Whakamarino challenge cup from the Tuai sailors.
A social at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman rounded off a most interesting day. The hospitality extended to the Gisborne club visitors was gratefully acknowledged when thanks were being extended to the hosts and hostesses. It was stated that. Gisborne members would be looking forward to the return visit to be paid by the Whakamarino club in the near future. The Gisborne club will continue the races on its roster next week-end when the second Lexia Cup trial is scheduled to take place in conjunction with other club races.
