TRACK AND FIELD CONTESTS KEEN IN CLUB SPRINTS

Weather conditions were excellent for the weekly sports meeting on the Childers Road Reserve on Saturday of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic Club.

Although several members of the club were absent at an athletic coaching school being conducted at Napier by Mr. P. F. Sharpley, there were a good number of entrants in most of the track and field events.

In expectation that the Hawke's BayP.B. amateur athletic championships will be held at Gisborne early next year, the club is increasing its equipment and improving the track. The sprint track has been moved so that competitors now start from the south end of the reserve and finish opposite the stand. The surface of both this and the circular track is,now better than it was at the opening of the season-
