Nurses’ Home Concert

Members of the Cook Hospital nursing staff were entertained on Tuesday evening at a concert, organised by the Nurses’ Christian Union and staged in the nurses’ home. Contributors to the programme as guest artists were Mesdames A. L, Elliott and A. C. Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. South, and members of the R.S.A. Male-Voice Choir, with Miss L. Brook as pianist. National Golf Championships The opinion that the national golf championships in Dunedin had been extremely well organised was expressed b.y the secretary of the New Zealand Golf Council, Mr. G. O. Sutton, at the monthly meeting of the council this week. The large field' in the open championship, however, had caused some very late finishes and he thought that at the next national tournament in Hastings in 1949, which would be held at an earlier date, the hours of available daylight would not permit of such a large entry. The Otago Golf Club reported that the gate money at the national championships in Dunedin last month amounted to £356, £25 less than received in New Plymouth in 1947.—P.A,
