STATE HOUSES FOR WELLINGTON
(P.A.)
WELLINGTON, Dec. 6.
The Minister of Housing Construction, Mr. 11. Semple, was interested in a proposal by the Regional Planning Council for building State houses in Wellington City on land where utility services already had been provided and had suggested that the details of the scheme should be given to the Housing Department, said the Mayor of Wellington, Mr. W. Appleton, today. The Mayor saw the Minister last week.
Mr. Appleton said he emphasised that the building of State houses in Wellington should not be at the expense of other areas. Discussion between the Government, the Wellington City Council, and the Regional Planning Council's officers will be held.
