Argument Leads To Fight Challenge

(9 a.m.)

ADELAIDE, Dec. 6,

The president of the Trades and Labour Council, Mr. A. B. Thompson, has challenged the State secretary of the Federated Ironworkers’ Association, Mr. C. J. McCaffrey, to fight at the Adelaide stadium under Queensberry rules. The challenge is the sequel to a clash at a meeting of the Labour Council, where Mr. Thompson answered interjections by Mr. McCaffrey with an invitation to battle.

There has been a long and bitter trade union duel between the extreme right-winger, Mr. Thompson and the equally extreme left-winger, Mr. McCaffrey'. Mr. Thompson is a former amateur boxing champion.
