Labour Wins Sydney Council Majority

SYDNEY, Dec. 6. For the first time in 21 years Labour aldermen have won control of the Sydney City Ciuncol. The voting is not yet complete but th£ final strength of the parties in the new City Council may be: Labour 19, Civic Reform 9; Lang Labour 2. Labour has also had some success in the suburban municipal elections, but not to the extent it hoped. It was Sydney's first election under a compulsory vote and extension of the franchise. Candidates of all parties claim that in some areas the election ■was a farce and that a new one should be held with revised rolls.

Many alleged breaches of the voting regulations are being investigated.
