SEVAN’S PAY CUT BOMBSHELL TO DENTISTS
LONDON, Dec. 5
The Minister ol Health, Mr. Aneurin Bevan, Informed the British Dental Association Incorporated, the Dental Society and Public Dental Service Association that from January 1, 1949, the Ministry will reduce by 50 per cent, the amount that a national health service dentist earns above £4BOO annually, says the Dally Telegraph.
The Ministry quoted cases of 95 dentists .“with excessive .earnings,’’ including 13 with incomes of £12,000. The. dentists claim that of the 8343 dentists, in the national service those earning over £4BOO do not exceed 20 per cent. The Daily Telegraph says: "Mr. Bevan’s surprise decision will be
fought strongly by the profession, not so much because of the cut itself, but '"“for the dictatorial way in which the . decision was made.”
