Auckland Programme For Empire Games

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 7. The Empire Games will be held at Auckland from February - to 11 inclusive in 1950.

When the full organising committee of 15 members was appointed last night, it was decided that the sports for the games should be athletics, boxing. wrestling, weight lifting, swimming. fencing, lawn bowls, rowing and cycling.

The programme of events will closely follow that of the previous Empire Games festivals.

Official invitations to Empire countries to compete in the festival will shortly be distributed. The King is to be asked to act as patron of the games and the GovernorGeneral. Sir Bernard Freyberg, will be appoached to be vice-patron. The Prime Minister has been appointed president and the Mayor of Auckland vice-president.
