Mrs. P. W. Barrett, Ruatoria, visited Gisborne last week. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McNeil and Miss Shona McNeil have left Tikitiki for Gisborne, where they will make their future home in Mary street, Mangapapa.

Miss Amy Grey, Waiohika, has lefi Gisborne lor Auckland and will leave New Zealand on December 11 for England, via Panama.

The Princess’ new suite overlooks the Palace gardens and is very near to Clarence House, which will be the town residence of Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh. VICTORIA LEAGUE

A brisf business meeting yesterday at the Victoria League rooms preceded the league’s social afternoon for the inmates of the Cook Memorial Home

The meeting stood in silent sympathy with the relaiives of the late Mrs. J. B. McFarlane, the Auckland league’s president, and with the relatives of the late Mrs. A. Stoneham ,a member of the Gisborna league.

It was decided to send flowers and a message of sympathy to Mrs. W. _O. Harrawa.y in her illness, these having been already sent to Miss I. Evans. The president, Mrs. L. Balfour, called for nominations for the incoming executive, which will be elected at the annual general meeting in March. She felt that the executive positions should be occupied by different members and hoped that nominations would be numerous.

Food parcels numbering 66 had been packed during November, said Mrs. O R. Olsen parcels convener. A welcome was extended to the league’s guests by the president, whe also added greetings from Mrs. W. O Harrawa.y and Miss Lois Evans.

The popular programme included community singing with Mr. O. Pritchard conducting and Mrs. A. L. Elliott at the piano, carols by the choir, conducted by Mrs O R. Olsen and accompanied by Mrs. I. Stephenson, moving pictures shown b.y Mr. H F. Wise, and a sumptuous afternoon tea. Gifts distributed included flowers,

cigarettes and sweets.
