TRAMS OR BUSES?
The Victorian Premier, Mr. Hollway, may recommend to Cabinet seriously to consider whether Melbourne tramways’ proposed £1,000,000 city extension next year is desirable in view of the latest advances in rail-less vehicle transport. While in London Inst month, Mr. Hollway said: “Since I have been in London, I have been deeply impressed by the extraordinary efficiency of buses and tubes. In a city such as London there does not appear much room for the fixed-rail vehicle. The trolly-bus, ordinary motor-bus. and tube are the backbone of the transport system.”
