“GUNS AGAINST TANKS”: L TROOP 33RD BTY. LIBYA
An illustrated review of an episode in the Western Desert in 1941, “Guns Against Tanks,” a production of the War Histories Branch, gives a detailed account of the activities of L Troop, 33rd Battery, 7th New Zealand Antitank Regiment in Libya. The complete series will range over the whole field of the Second World War, that is, the Navy, Army, Air Force and the civilian war effort, but it is directed towards specific episodes or phases in the experience of participants which could not otherwise be so fully described. “Guns Against Tanks” has illustrations showing the personnel of the troop, the desert east of Pt. 175, convoys in desert formation, guns in action in pits and en portee, and various battlyc scenes that still live in the memories of gunners and the infantry they were supporting. This is the first of the series and will be followed by “Women at War,” "Achilles at the River Plate,” “Troopships,” the last-mentioned an account of the R.N.Z.A.F's part in the air attack on Rabaul, and others.
