CAPACITY FIELDS CARDED FOR SPRING PROGRAMME OF RANGITIKEI RACING CLUB

(Herald Special

Capacity fields are carded for tne one-day spring’ meeting of the Rangitikei Racing Club at Bulls tomorrow. The £6OO Cup 1 event has drawn 15 acceptors, while the big list fancied for the Hack Cup has necessitated an additional race and divisions have been arranged for the maiden event.

The track was well drenched last week-end, but drying condi tion since should leave it in fair order for tomorrow.

SANDON HACK HURDLES Result (23), 10.8, will not be fancied unless the track is firm. Royal Moutoa (20), 10.8, will be well backed as he is reported “jumping out of his skin.” Tribute (9), 10.6, is a Ringmaster—might be first or might be last. Incision (13), 10.4, failed at Trentham, but will appreciate this class. Omaio (14), 9.13, should give a good account of himself. Luck was not on his side at Trentham in either start. The Crofter (3), 9.13, is going to be hard to beat; was second at Wellington. Fairhome (22), 9.11, would be troublesome if in the mood. Ncpeta (10) 9.11, ran well enough on the first day at Trentham to have a show in this event. Shcilvvyn (16), 9.5, has not yet contested a hurdle race; is said to jump well, but lack of experience in a big field may be a handicap. Becalm (4) 9.4, is another having his first hurdle race. First King (15), 9.4, will not be left out of a summing up. Aubrey (11), 9.0, was second at Waverley in his first hurdle effort. Magnus Lux (2) 9.0, has been schooling impressively at Hastings, but has disappointed his conenctions of late. Bon Chale (17) 9.2, may do the best of those not mentioned. TRIAL STAKES There is not a great deal of form offering in the First Division with speculators, perhaps, inclining towards Tuatea once again, as one of these days he might “go off.” Others who may attract a little attention are • Honeydew, Belgrea, Elbogen, Fleurbaix and SliadoJT. The Hastings filly Running Rein, with Broughton in the saddle, is assured of solid support in the Second Division. At Hastings early this month she ran a creditable third and followed that by finishing second to Royal Leap in the two-and-three-year-old race at Waipukurau. This form is the best of recent date of any of the opposition. Dinard, Flying Colours and Princess Gay may also enter calculations. OHAKEA HACK HANDICAP Deseado (18) 9.0, is due any day. Blue Seal (5), 8.10, has a recent second on his chart. Lady Mintcr (8), 8.5

has racing condition on her side and likes a soft track. Platonic (1G), 8.2, is racing consistently, but has only one win to' his credit, .let Plane (2), 8.1, ran well enough in his last effort to attract notice. Kentucky Flight (11), 8.1, is just a possibility. Murrayficltl (10), 8.1, looks the favourite on Trentham form. Blue Spec (17), 7.13, has disapopinted his Hastings party this season and his failures are difficult to explain. Lady Barrington (12), 7.13, scents a fair place bet. Übbriaco (19), 7.13, has speed, but seven furlongs may be a little too far. Arvadale (14), 7.12, and Night Valour (17), 7.7, may do best of the others. CUP BARRAGE (14) 9.3, back to provincial racing, may atone for recent defeats. KIA ORA KATOA (2) 8.9, failed at Waverley. NGAKOTI (3), 8.7, attracts attention by his Waverley success. NIGHT SCHOOL (1), 7.9, should be close to a place dividend. SIR ROYAL (7), 7.9, will not be fancied on recent form. PLAYTOS (13), 7.8, is now being tried over a longer course than usual. FAULTINA (9), 7.2, was third in the Waverley Cup and was a little unlucky. FRANADA (4), 7.0, is not yet back to last autumn form; has won only over sprint distances. PRAM (5), 7.0, ran third to Kia Ora Katoa and Emerge at Marlon last month and might surprise now. BULASELLE (12). 7.0. a promoted hack, is a light-weight place possibility. The balance of the seven-stoners do not make strong appeal, but there is a whisper for RHODESIA. PAREWANUI HACK CUP NO. 1 Patunui (7) 8.12, has plenty of place form this season. Nullah (3) 8.6, will not be neglected. Foxtonian (2), 8.0, occasionally pays a dividend and won at his last outing. Lord Bradbury (11) 7.13, is not reliable. Rcignon (2), 8.0, is

due any clay, according to report. Indian Coronet (9) 7.9, is being tried over a middle distance. She is by Coronach from a Great Northern Derby winner. This may be her forte. Gay Viking (8) 7.7, won a maiden at Hastings and has improved since. Sly Ferry (6), 7.7, also won a maiden event at Hastings and then ran as though he might appreciate a longer course. The balance have no place form this season. ★McKELVIE MEMORIAL DEPRIVE (14) 9.0. would need to improve on his Labour Day showing at Waverley. SIR ROYAL (11), 8.8, is also in the Cup. RED HERRING (12), 8.7, looks the logical favourite. NIGHT SCHOOL (13) 8.4, is reported to be contesting the Cup in preference. PETRE MAR (3). 8.4, ran well on the first day at Wellington. FURIOSO (7) 7.13, is one capable of surprising. GAY STITCHES (4) 7.10, might want a public gallop. KING OF QUIZ (2), 7.10, on his second to Wild Note at Hastings early this month will not be overlooked. Further clown the weight-list it is not easy to discern one that could be recommended. PAREWANUI HACK CUP NO. 2 Matara (8), 8.9, although failing of late has form enough, to bring him to notice. Ladv Oratory (3), 8.12, was backed and beaten at Waverley; it is a very hard mare to keep track of. Gratuity (9), 7.13, is capable of bringing this one off. Battle On (7) 7.2, was feurth in his last start over nine furlongs. Lochrea (10) 7.11, was left and ran fourth on the middle clay at Wellington. Beckon (1) 7.8, has no form this season, but is racing on her home track. Leyma (G) 7.3. was lucky in being handicapped before he ran third in the Wellington Guineas; otherwise he would have had more than lib above the minimum. The remaining three help to make up the field. FAREWELL HACK HANDICAP General Rule (4) 9.0, has already failed this week. Vincctte (10), 8.12, has raced prominently of late. Helenette (11), 8.6, was a winner at Waipukurati and will be fancied again. Lord Phrosa (8) 8.1, may not be liked. Robert Enunett (9), 8.1. will not bp overlooked. Jimmy Wilde (14), 7.13 was fancied at Wellington, but failed. Perdita (12), and Übbriaco (2) both 7.9, are possibilities as also is Sonia (5) on the minimum.
