Eire To Sever One Of Last Ties With British Crown
LONDON, Oct. 1. When the Dail Eireann - reassembles next month, the Eire Government will introduce legislation to abolish the External Relations Act, which means the severance of one of the country’s last ties with the British Crown, said the Eire Prime Minister. Mr. J. Costello, on his arrival from a tour of the United States and Canada. ’’The Act was neither one thing nor the other, because His Majesty was never a symbol of co-operation,” he said. "The Statute of Westminster was a symbol of free association. There can be plenty of co-operation with Britain on the basis of Republican forms or any other forms. This is a constructive and not a destructive proposal that will bring unity to our own country.”
