DUMP FOR POTATOES
At the request of growers in the district. the Waimate County Council has instructed its engineer to look for a suitable place for a potato dump. The chairman, Major N. A. Rattray, said that it appeared to be necessary for the council to provide some place to put this unwanted food. The potatoes might be paid for eventually, but they would not be used. They would be dumoed somewhere. Mr. H. J. Stowell asked whether the Government might take over the potatoes and sell them to the people cheaply.
