“POWER CABLE ACROSS COOK STRAIT NOT FEASIBLE”
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, Sept. 30. Proposals that the North Island power shortage be relieved by a submarine cable across Cook Strait were not feasible, said Mr. A. E. Davenport, general manager of the State HydroElectric Department, in an address to the Power Boards’ and Supply Authorities' Association's annual conference.
More attention should be paid, for the next 10 years anyway, to geo-thermal investigations and the untapped millions of kilowatts stored in the South Island, he said.
