CASH STOLEN FROM SAFES IN AUCKLAND BURGLARIES

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 30. About £IOO in cash was stolen from a safe in the office of the Second N.Z.E.F. Association’s clubrooms in the Queen’s Arcade between last night and this morning. From the fire escape the burglars smashed the kitchen window. They hacked a hole 9in, square in the safe.

Thieves, without forcing the doors or windows, entered the offices occupied by the Government Valuation Department in the !ZB building in Durham street and stole £77 in cash from the safe. A ring of keys found in a drawer included the kev of the safe. From the premises of Frank M. Winstone, ' merchants, limited, Customs street, burglars stole a silver-pla'ed tea set and a typewriter valued at £B2.
