Neutral Zone Sought Round City Hall
(10 a.m.) BERLIN, Aug. 30. The Berlin city elders postponed the meeting which they were scheduled to hold at noon today in the hope of receiving a reply from General Kotikov, Soviet Commander of Berlin, to requests bv the president of the City Council. Dr. Suhr. for a neutral zone round the City Hall.
Dr. Suhr said earlier today that if a reply had not been received by noon, he would ask the elders to fix an extraordinary meeting” of the City Council for tomorrow.
The Associated Press correspondent in Berlin, quoting the Soviet news bureau, says that General Kotikov ordered henceforth that residents of the Russian sector should pay, taxes only in the sector where they live and that these tax funds would be used only for the benefit of the Russian sector.
