EINSTEIN QUESTIONS WARSAW REPORT

NEW YORK, Aug. 30.

Professor Albert Einstein denied the authenticity of the text of a message which the Poles issued, allegedly on his behalf, to the Congress of Intellectuals. His message as issued at Princeton stressed the need for control of atomic energy and the need for organisation above national sovereignties. The text of the message issued by the Poles at the congress contained largely generalities on the theme that

“boundless national egotism must be overcome” and that thinking in terms of “brutal physical strength” should be stopped. • Part of Professor Einstein’s message as issued at Princeton said “the antagonism of economic interests within and among the nations is no doubt responsible to a large extent for the dangerous and threatening world condition todav.

“Mankind can gain protection against the danger of unimaginable destruction and wanton annihilation only if a supra-national organisation alone has the authority to possess these weapons.” None of this appears in the text which the New York Times says was issued by the Poles.
