FIREBRIGADESMEN SEEK HIGHER WAGES
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 30. Seeking a new award, Auckland Fire Brigade employees other than officers met the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board in the Conciliation Council today. The employees are claiming higher wages, increased clothing and generally improved conditions. The minimum wage asked for probationary firemen is £6 11s 3d a week. Tomorrow the Conciliation Commissioner will review claims for a new award by the Auckland Fire Brigade’s officers.
