CUPS CHANGE HANDS IN WAIAPU RUGBY

In each of two cup matches played by teams of the Waiapoa Rugby subunion on Saturday the challengers over ran their opponents to take the trophies by convincing margins. The Hyland Cup holders. Awanui, Awanui were unable to field a full team and City won the decision by nine points to nil. The forwards, W. Rowland and J. Smith, and the wing three-quarter, A. Green, scored tries. In the match for the Banks Cup Valley beat Rangers, 14-3. Rangers, holders of the trophy, have not shown, in recent matches the form that won them the premiership and .hew defeat by Valley was expected. Valley’s margin of four tries to a penalty -was deserved as they were superior in all departments. Tries were scored for Valley by ti e wing three-quarter, K. Kururangi, (two), P. Taiapa, jun., and B. Waiwatai, the last being converted. For Rangers. G. Nepia. jun., kicked a penalty goal. The referee in both matches was M Kururangi. !
