FINES IMPOSED IN RUATORIA COURT
Charges against several residents of Ruatoria and Te Araroa were dealt t with by Mr. E. L. Walton S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court in Ruatoria on Thursday. The prosecutions were conducted by Sergeant R. Griffith. Two charges were preferred against Tukino Manuel. For unlawfully converting a horse to his own use he was convicted and fined £3 and ordered to oay damages £3. On a second charge * of stealing stirrups and straps he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. ~ Also charged with unlawfully converting a horse to his own use at Te Araroa, Hape Campbell was convicted and fined £lO. For failing to drive a car without due care and attention at Te Araroa, Nepia Andrews was convicted and fined £L * Three men, Nelson Hammond, Makure Huihui and Chilly Te Puna, were charged with the theft of fruit from a Chinese fruiterer, Louie Sun Wing. Each man was convicted and fined £3 and ordered to make restitution of £2 16s fid each. A charge of the theft of a trowel -t Te Araroa preferred against Brown im Waikare (Mr. K. Gillandcrs Scott) was dismissed
