FAREWELL PARTY FOR RUATORIA DISTRICT NURSE
Fragrant narcissus, anemones and prunus blossom decorated the home of Mrs. S H. Burdett, Ruatoria, when the Piunket mothers gathered on Wednesday evening to farewell Nurse Russell. During her two years in Ruatoria Nurse Russell has combined the offices of district and Piunket nurse and her willing asistance has been much appreciated by both Maori and European mothers.
The guest of the evening wore an ensemble in black and white, and on her arrival was presented with a spr-x made by Miss Pam Fry. Several entertaining games and competitions Were played, the winners being Mrs. Burdett, Mrs. Doherty, Miss Rolls and Nurse Russell. A delicious supper was served, after which Mrs. K. Goodman presented Nurse Russell with an envelope on behalf of the mothers. She thanked Nurse Russell tor her efficient service, and wished her happiness in her new sphere of employment. Several apologies were also received. As Nurse Russell rose to reply musical honours were accorded her. Those present included Mesdames S. 11. Burdett, J, Fent'old, C. H. Russell, K. Goodman, Doherty, C. Varley, Lleency, Tucker, F. Smythe, jun., T. Ehau, P. Evans, M. Provost, T. Snelling, A. J. Fry Miss Rolls and Nurse Russell.
