TIDES AT GLSBOKNE WHARF
POLICE PIPE BAND. One of the best dressed and best drilled bands in the Dominion was seen by citizens when the Auckland. Police Highland Pipe Band made its first public appearance yesterday in a march through the city. Inaugurated in November, 1945, only four members had experience as pipers. Others had to be taught. Uniforms were obtained from Glasgow, bonnets from London and a leopard skin for the bass drummer from India. The uniforms and drums cost £2OOO. The pipers provided their own bagpipes.
