OAK GARDEN CIRCLE

Mcsdames G- Corbett. L. Betteridge and C. Pistor, new members, were welcomed at the Oak Gardening Circle’s August meeting at Low’s reception rooms last Monday. Mrs. E. R. Perry presided over a large attendance and opened the meeting with a verse by Patience Strong. Her main address was on gladiolus and chrysanthemums, and following it she awarded the yearly prizes, as follows: — Attendance. —Mesdames G. Carr, Clouston, Haire, C. Holt. Jones, Ross B. G. Badham, Miss E. Jackson. Blooms, single, one variety and mixed variety.— Mesdames E. Lennane, N. QuickC, A. Steele. C. Jones, Ross, H. Bacon, I. Salt, F. Robertson, Porter, G. Carr, D.’ Olding. E. Roderick, Misses M. Lennane, Wall. The results of competitions -at the meeting were:—Mixed variety.—Mesdames E. Roderick and G. Carr, equal 1- Mesdames E. Lennane, Richards, D. Henderson, equal, 3; Mrs. H. Choveaux, G One variety.—Mesdames E. Lennane, G Carr, A. Steele, viual 1; Mesdames D. Henderson. Richards, E. Roderick, equal, 4; Mrs. Clay. 7. Single bloom. —Mesdames D. The sales table was well patronised, and Mrs- Perry was in charge, also judging ihe monthly competition enU Tea hostesses were Mesdames F. Kermode. J. Elliott and Sutcliffe.
