Majestic.—Paramount’s outdoor classic in colour, “Silver City," heads _ today's programme. This is one of the bit? productions of the year and stars Randolph Scott, Barbara Button. George “Gabby" Hayes and Lon Chaney. A bright array of featurettes includes “The Princess’ Wedding,” finals of tne Olympic Games, a colour cartoon, Speaking of Animals,” and two newsreels. ‘Silver City will be screened at a special Young Lew Zealanders Club programme on Monday and .luesday at 2 o'clock. King’s.—"An Ideal Husband commenced yetterday. Lovers of Oscar Wilde’s works will not be alone in their appreciation of this outstanding Technicolour adaptation of his comedy play set in London during the naughty Gay Nineties. Paulette Goddard as the notorious social-political schemer, Mrs. Ghevely, finds a match for her wits in former lover Lord Goring (Michael Wilding) when she attempts to blackmail his friend with a past, Lord Chi Item (Hugh Williams). Regent.—-“It Happened on sth Avenue, now showing at the Regent Theatre, is light cnteitainment at its very best and recommended to those cinemagoers in search of complete diveision. Starring Don De Fore, Ann Harding, Charlie Ruggles and Victor Moore, the story tells in hilarious fashion of the complications that ensue when a lovable hobo exchanges places with a multi-millionaire. Of interest, in the supporting programme is a newsreel depicting various final events at the Olympic Games and a demonstration of snooker by champion Walter Lindrum.
