WOODFORD PUPILS’ DANCE

Gisborne pupils of Woodford House gave a bright dance in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Mangapapa, last night. The hostesses were Mesdames M. J. Brownlie, H. T. Holden, F. Bellerby, Selwyn Averill and R. Watkins, assisted by their daughters, Misses Virginia Brownlie, Patricia Holden, Janet Bellerby, Antoinette Averill and Josephine Watkins, all senior students at Woodford this year. For the dancing, Miss Lena Ruru supplied the music. Lovely arrangements of spring flowers and greenery with brightly coloured balloons added an air of festivity to the hall. Those invited included:—

Dickson, Wainui road, left Gisborne today for Wellington. Mrs. G. I. Parker. Rawiri street, has returned home after a holiday in Christchurch. Mrs. T. A. N. Corson, Riverside read, has returned to Gisborne after a visit to Auckland. Mrs. G. Utting and her son have returned to Tolaga Bay after being the guest of Mrs. T. Utting, Haronga road. While her husband is taking a course at Massey Agricultural College, Mrs. W. D. Caldwell, Domett street, will be staying for six weeks with Mrs. H. B. Johnson in Feilding. Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell left Gisborne yesterday. Mesdamcs L. Balfour and P. Hockley, representing the Gisborne Victoria League, and Mrs. T. Warner, representing the Young Contingent in Gisborne, left today for the first post-war conference of the Victoria League, to be held in Auckland.
