SOVIET POLICE CLASH IN BERLIN
(11 a..m) BERLIN, Aug. 3. Clashes occurred when Soviet police entered the British area of Berlin m pursuit of blackmarketeers, according to the British-licensed German newspaper Telegraf.
German crowds lined up against the police when they manhandled a passerby and dragged him to the Soviet headquarters. A Russian-controlled newspaper says passers-by went to the aid of a blackmarketeer and threw stones at the Soviet police, injuring an officer. The Western-appointed Berlin police chief has sent a telegram to the Rus-sian-appointed police chief demanding the immediate release of four German police. including a policewoman, arrested by the Soviet police.
