“DEPLORABLE BILL”: NATIONALITY ISSUE
LONDON. July 23. Lord Salisbury in the House of Lords, referring to the House o£ Commons amendments to the British Nationality Bill, said the Opposition believed that "this is a deplorable measure which will have a regrettab c effect on the British Commonwealth. He asked for a Government assurance that implications and dangers of the bill should be discussed with the Prime Ministers of other Empire countries at the meeting in the aU The "Lord Chancellor, Lord Jowitt, said all British Commonwealth Governments had been given full reports of the discussions in both Houses. These reports would be available at the autumn conference if desired. The House then accepted the amendments.
