Creation of West German State Probable
LONDON, July 22.
An agreement between the western Allies and (the 11 west German State Premiers on the creation of a separate west German State is likely, according to the final communique issued at Eudesheim by the Premiers, The agreement will be discussed with the three western Military Governors on Monday. The Christian Democrat Party leaders approved of the Premiers’ decision and asked them speedily to take steps to unify the western zones on a federal basis. The Germans have consented reluctantly to the agreement, says the Associated Press correspondent at Rudesheim, but the action seems to have paved the way for a plan for uniting the American, British and French occupation zones under one German Government.
The « Germans did not reveal the nature of the compromises reached, but indicated that they thought they had gone far enough to satisfy the Military Governors.
