Kennel Club Accommodation
A proposed plan of a building desired by the P.B. Kennel Club section at the showgrounds was regarded as impracticable by a meeting of the general executive of the P.B. Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday. After a lengthy discussion, during which ifc was suggested that a temporary structure be provided for office accommodation, it was decided that the grounds committee be authorised to expend up to £l5O to provide facilities for the ck.j. Flood Relief Tosts and Battens The plantation of gum trees at the showgrounds has yielded 11,000 battens 223 posts and 50 cord of firewood for flood relief purposes and wages paid out to date have amounted to £3OB. A report to this effect was made by the president, Mr. P. F. Barker, at a meeting of the P.B. Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday. The disposal of the roots of the trees, he said, was constituting a problem and it was decided that the president should make the necessary inquires and have power to act. Round and Round The request of a Palmerston North woman who sought information from the Minister of Health, Miss Howard, regarding supplies of nursery squares, received a roundabout reply. The Minister passed the matter to the Department of Industries and Commerce, which in turn referred the question to the New Zealand Retailers’ Federation. The federation passed the request to its Palmerston North branch which, after making unsuccessful inquiries, was forced to advise the woman to buy coloured winceyette. Grocery I.ines on Margaret W.
