U.S. JET FIGHTERS FOR GERMANY
(11.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 22. Sixteen United States Air Force Shooting Star jet fighters arrived at the R.A.F. base in Hampshire from Michigan. They took 11 days to complete the trip but actual flying time was a little over 11 hours.
The squadron covered the Atlantic crossing at an average speed of 430 miles an hour. They will remain in England for two days and then go to Germany for training and tactical exercises with the Superfortresses.
