(N.Z.P.A. —Reuter—Copyright.) (11.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 22. An inquiry into the cause of the disappearance of the 7000-ton freighter Samkey was opened in London today. The Samkey left London for Cuba on January 24 without cargo but carrying 37000 tons of oil and water ballast and a crew of 43. At noon seven days later the ship radioed her position to Horta, Azores. Since then she has not been heard of. The Samkey’s owners, the Ministry of Transport, told the court of inquiry that the ship wa* well built efficiently manned and was surveyed immediately before sailing. Experienced seamen thought that the ship was overwhelmed by a phenominal sea.
