GENEROUS RESPONSE OF OWNERS & TRAINERS FOR COMBINED TOLAS A BAY-WAIAPU MEETING

(Herald Special Service.)

VERY generous response from owners and trainers has been received for the combined race meeting of the Tolaga Bay and Waiapu Racing Clubs to be held on the Greenmeadows racecourse tomorrow.

The smallest field, 10, is in the Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase, the absentees including the Gisborne-owned Find Out, so it can be seen that the prospects for the fixture are most satisfactory. Bain has fallep during the week, but there is every indication that Saturday will be fine. The track will be slightly soft, but by now horses should be accustomed to handling wet tracks.

HIKURANGI HURDLES Griffin (4), 10.4, a recent winner, is engaged again in minor company. Ernbrae (3), 10.0, on his second al Hastings and third at Wellington must ‘>e as hard as the next best. Trig: Point (5), 9.10, has yet to win over the battens, but has run well enough to be counted in a final ballot now. Recent experience may have resulted in an improvement. VVhiphand (8), 9.9, is fit, but his besi is between the flags. Aslrope (6), 9.3, is nothing to write home about, but is a place possibility. Royal Duce (2), 9.3, would only need to jump as well as he does in private to beat this lot. Baby Lu (I), 9-0, has no form. Master Peter (7), 9.0, has run very poorly of late. Night Action (10), 9.0. is showing an improvement, but the form has been poor to date. Silvcstre (11), 9.0, is well overdue, but might scramble into a place. Tucker Box (9), 9.0, is not a strong recommendation, even for a place. WAIHAU HACK HANDICAP Mabel Knight (14), 9.0, won on the Greenmeadows track last month, bid as her barrier manners are anything but good, she is not one to which one should pin too much faith. Dainty Moii (3), 812, is no champion, but seldom runs a poor race. Patanui (7), 8.11, has not raced since the end of December, but was a winner earlier this term. Master Rich (9). 8.8, is a possibility, but like all of his sire’s gets is not solid. Toiroa (6), 8.8, won so well on his last visit to Greenmeadows that he may be well backed again. Island Queen (8), 8.4, a recent maiden winner at Hastings, is galloping well. Coshona (1), 8.3, has raced only once this season, at Woodville in May, when she outclassed a very fair maiden field. Keep an eye on this Coronach filly. Queen's Parade (13). 8.3, is hard to pass over as a place proposition. Lady Kindine (5), 8.2, is moderate at best. Battle Spear (2), 8.1. on his fourth at Wellington, seems dangerous. Lady Myrtle (12) 8.1, has won this season and will be favoured by the going. She is one who may be hard to lick. Kaliuranaki (10), 8 0. on recent form is not liked. Valerie .Tay (11). 8.1. has been nowhere in nine efforts this season. Yalta (4), 8.0. is just a lightweight possibility. ★H. C. BEACH MEMORIAL EARN BRIDGE (9), 9.4, is not seriously considered in Hastings running. FIELD MARSHAL (3). 9.3, apparently wanted that race last Saturday. He might make amends this time. COMEDY STAR (13), B.ll—the consistent —is laways in or near a place. SIR WARRIOR (7), 8.8. with conditions to his liking is not by-passed. MASTER KIP (8), 8.7, is just an average staying hack. BANDMASTER (12). 8.2, may start in the last event instead of this one.

NEAP TIDE (6), 8.2, has still to win a race, but his form over the distance is good enough for him to be included in a final summing-up. MASTER MOTI (14), 8.1, has only a rough show. WINSTAKE (4), 8.1, is starling in the Maiden, according to report. AVANZAR (1), 8.0, is well bred, but so far has been a "dud" GOLDEN HOPE (11), 8.1, fourth in her last effort; is not without a show. MARSHAL FOCH (5), 8.0, is not recomended. ROSCAREA (2), 8.0, is a lightweight outside possibility. ROYAL SIGNAL (10), 8.0, is not a I very strong hope. NGAEIMU H. & H. STEEPLES IMPERIAL CROWN (7), 9.13, since winning at Woodville in May has run a "nowhere" and a fourth. He might add to his record here. TRACER (9), 9.10, has no steeplechase form. PRIMORDIAL (2), 9.9, will have to be taken into consideration. LIGHT TEA (10), 9.(>, in this class is a consideration. DUNEVAGAN (6). 9.2, can jump fast, but want of condition is against him. DENNY'S GIFT (8), 9.1, does not appeal in this department. GENERO (3), 9.0, has not yet started in a cross-country race, but has been well schooled and is promising. GOLD DIP (1), 9.0, if he can go round without errors might be in the money. PAKURA (4), 9.0, in his one start to date went well for about a mile. STERLING GOLD (5), 9.0. has the

(falling habit— a bad one, indeed. Ist WHAREKAKA MAIDEN Middle East (3X, 8.10, has no form. Queen Opal (9), 8.10, was fourth in her last start at Te Awamutu aCter being in the van practically throughout over seven furlongs. Snow Saint (10), 8.10. should be hard to beat on recent showings and now has the right condition. Winstake (12), 8.10, at his last Greenmeadows appearance was second in a hack race, form that is not overlooked. Bad Judgment (5), 8.10, has no form. Capitalist (1), 8.0, galloped fairly well the other morning, but may want a race.

Crystal (0), 8.0, has yet to show the right promise. Endowed (7), 8.0, has racing experience and ran well enough at Hastings to be given a show. ilush (11), 8.0, can gallop, but throws her head up at the start and loses too much ground

Magnetic (8), 8.0, has no form. Miss Ozel (2), 8.0. is promising, but may require a distance. Royal Leap (4), 8.0, has no form. 2nd WHAREKAKA MAIDEN

Bold Knight (5). 8.10 galloped fairly well in his-final gallop Erinmore (9). 8.10, is not fulfilling earlier promise. Flight Deck (8), 8.10, has no form. Motoka (7), 8.10. shaped well enough in his last effort to attract attention now.

illlllllilllllllllllllllllllllllllllUllllllH Little Tich (G), 8.10, an unraced three-year-old by Joviality, shows speed. New Look (11), 8.0, is improving. Outlook (4), 8.0, is promising and may surprise. Robin's Song (3), 8.0, on form may be a favourite. Sunny Spur (10), 8.0, has not raced. Leighhright (2), 8.0, has not raced. Gay Lace (1), 8.0, third in her last effort, should be in the money. *WAIAPU STAKES HANDICAP CITATION (12), 9.11, back to this class should be harG, nu: sue has her share of weight to carry on heavy going. BATTLE SURVEY (16). 9.3, should do better here than he did in May, but unsoundness does not make him a confident hope. ..NEW DEER (9), 8.11, has not raced this season. CASTLEBRAE (15), 8.10, has not 1 raced since running second in March at Feilding. j

GAY STITCHES (6), B.G, on Hastings running makes a strong appeal. DEMONIC (2), 8.3, looks like being in need of a race. BLACK BERET (13) 8.2, adds to the puzzle on Hastings form. CLIVE BELLE (5), 8.0, has a rough place show. • CRISPEN (7), 8.0, might be out of his depth. FLARE PATH (4). 8.0, over this distance might surprise. GAY CORRIE (1), 8.0, has no recent form. TUSSOCK (14), 8.0, is not without a place chance at his weight. UAWA HACK HANDICAP La Bian (14). 9.2, is proving hard to follow, but in her favour is her fitness and ability to handle the going likely to be met with tomorrow. The Missioner (4), 8.13, pleased in this week’s track effortsDainty Moli (10), 8.12, has an earlier engagement. „ Gay Sport (12), 8.7. on his second to La Bian at Hastings is to be conseiderecl.
