VARIETY OF ARTICLES AND CLOTHING STOLEN
An almost complete wardrobe of clothing had been stolen by a 19-year-old Maori girl, Vera Harrison, Tauranga, who appeared in the Gisborne Magistrate's Court yesterday. She pleaded guilty to the theft at Gisborne on July 19 of a suitcase, a 'photo frame, one camera, a silk frock, two Moral frocks, two shirts, two cardigans, a silk house coat, one camelhair overcoat, a pair of stockings, a pair of shoes, two blouses, and two coat hangars, of a total value of £4O, the property of Mrs. P. Gregory and another. Detective-Sergeant R. 11. Waterson, who prosecuted, stated that the girl had been working for Mrs. Gregory, but had left suddenly on Monday. Soon afterwards it was found that the various articles were missing. All the property had been recovered. The girl’s mother had asked that she should be returned lo her charge at Gate Pa, near Tauranga. The magistrate admitted Harrison to probation for 12 months, with (tie provision that she return to her mother’s home and remain there.
