FIRST J-FORCE MEN DUE HOME EARLY NEXT MONTH
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July. 22.
The first draft of the returning J Force is expected to leave Japan on July 23, stated the Minister of Defence, Mr. F. Jones, last night.
This draft, which comprises 570 of all ranks, is travelling in the Duntroon and is due at Auckland about the end of the first week in August. The second draft of 549 of all ranks, in the Westralia, is expected to leave Kure on July 31 and to arrive at Auckland about the middle of the month. Both ships will leave for Japan again within a day or two of their arrival to pick up the next two main drafts. The Minister added that the actual dates and times of arrival of the ships would be announced as soon as they were known, probably a few days before the ships were due to berth. At the same tir.ie complete information would be given about the movement of J Force men and women from Auckland to their home towns. Any last-minute alterations which became necessary in arrangements would be broadcast.
