“Roads Are Worst For Many Years" Chamber President
"The roads in the Gisborne district today are worse than they have been for many years,” stated the president of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, Mr. T. A. N. Corson, at last night’s meeting of the chamber.
He had travelled over most of the roads in the district and on the East Coast in recent weeks, said Mr. Corson, and they were all in a bad state. The Tiniroto highway was particularly bad. The chamber had had promises from several Ministers that something would be done about the roads, but as yet nothing had been done. A deputation to the Minister of Works, Mr. R. Semple, to get a straight answer as to what it was proposed to do on the Gisborne roads during the spring and summer was advocated by Mr. Corson. The co-operation of the Gisborne Regional Planning Council was promised by Mr. C. H. Cooper.
