FEW RECRUITS FOR AUSTRALIAN ARMY
SYDNEY. July 8.
Tho recently-appointed militia officers though they are working hard to get recruits are worried by the feeling that the Government is halfhearted in its decision to create a citizen army, says tho defence correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald.
News that New Zealand is likely to introduce compulsory training had added to the sense of frustration felt by these organisers. Some officers say that as the militia scheme has taken shape, there have been signs of a cheese-paring policy which, if continued, will increase the already difficult job of getting recruits.
