Four cases of infectious disease were notified in the East Cape health district last week. They were one of bacillary dysentery, two of pulmonary tuberculosis, and one of undulant fever. There was one death from pulmonary tuberculosis.

Hawke’s Bay Company Reunion Members of B Company, Ist Battalion, the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, met at the Waikanae Beach kiosk on Saturday night for a reunion. The chairman was Mr. N. Kane, and it was decided that the reunion should become an annual fixture with special invitations to be extended in future to all Headquarters Company personnel recruited in this district. To that end an interim committee, comprising Messrs. Kane, F. Gavin, C. Campbell, M. Anderson and D. F. Muir, was appointed. The usual toasts were honoured at the reunion and many friendships renewed. New Shaving Idea “Former printer and publisher ot The Press, Christchuch, Mr. E. E. C. Hyde, now in London on a short visit, is feeling quite pleased with himself—and for a very good reason,” says the New Zealand News, published in London on May 4. “Years ago in New Zealand the thought struck him that men wasted an undesirable amount of time while shaving, in ‘dipping’ for fresh water. He began experimenting with ways of overcoming this. Mr. Hyde recently brought his ultimate idea (in practical shape) to London. His razor is fitted with a container for collecting and directing liquid on the razor edge during shaving. A search ■ through British patents has confirmed that his invention is definitely something new, and Mr. Hyde has reecived official advice that his razor is to be patented. His optimism that it will be bought is considered well-iustified.”
