The defeat of Dinny Pails by Donald Budge was a feature of the quarterfinals of the American professional tennis championships at Forest Hills. Results:—
Budge beat Pails, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2; Kramer beat Van Horn, 3-6, 18-14, 4-6, 8-6. 6-4: Riggs beat Cooke, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0; Kovacs beat Segura, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
