Outdoor Skating Rink
Approval of a new outdoor skating rink for Napier to cost £11,521, was given by the Napier Skating Club at the annual meeting. The club will provide the money to meet the preliminary constructional costs amounting to from £SOOO to £6OOO. The new rink will replace the one in front of the sound shell. The skating surface will be 1461 ft. by 103 ft. and the rink will be the largest outdoor rink and one of the most moredn in the Dominion. Floodlighting, terraced seating accommodation, a glassed-in shelter on the seaward side and subsidiary buildings and conveniences are to be provided. There will be seating accommodation for 1600 spectators.
