AUSTRALIAN VOTED BEST ACTRESS

The Australian actress. Judith Anderson was voted best actress of the season by New York drama critics in a poll conducted by the stage newspaper. Variety. She received the votes of 10 out of 12 critics for her performance in the Greek tragedy, Medea. Miss Anderson, a native of Adelaide. made her professional debut on the Australian stage in “A Royal Divorce.” She went to America in 1920 and has appeared in many Broadway successes, including “Cobra” and "Mourning Becomes Electra.” She has recently been in several films, among them “Rebecca,” “King’s Row” and “Laura.” Judith Anderson played in Australia in “The Green Hat” in 1927. During the war she returned again to her homeland to entertain the troops, but made no public appearances.
