35 HURT IN SYDNEY TRAM COLLISION

SYDNEY, June 5

When one heavily loaded tram crashed into another almost head on opposite thd Sydney Snowgrounas, 3o men were injured. More than a hundred men and women were hurled about the compartments amid showers of broken glass and debris, but none of the women was hurt.

Scrambling from the wreckage the uninjured passengers assisted the victims from the smashed trams. Four ambulances ran a shuttle service to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where 22 injured were taken. Thirteen others were given first-aid treatment on the spot. Three of four trams involved were derailed and completely wrecked. A coupled pair of trams ran across some points and crashed into a stationary special tram packed with men going to the Randwick workshops. Practically all the windows in the three cars were smashed, woodwork and doors were splintered and parts of roofs caved in.
