H. 5.0.8. SENIORS STEP INTO LEAD

P.B. RUGBY SERIES CELTIC’S NARROW LOSS SECOND WIN TO UNION 0.8. JUNIORS UNBEATEN ■Light rain during the morning with intermittent showers in the period of play softened grounds and made the ball difficult to handle, hut did not handicap speed seriously in Rugby competition games throughout Ihe district on Saturday. Spectators paid scant heed to the threat of inclement conditions and attendances were again large. Gaining a narrow decision over Celtic in the second series of the second round in the senior contest of the P.B. Union, the improving H. 5.0.8. combination moved into the lead, one point ahead of Old Boys, who have a game in hand, with Celtic one point down in third place. Union collected another two points at the expense of Marist. A team from the Motu sub-union provided a good non-competition game though ceding the honours to Old Boys who had the bye. Also in the second series of tne second round Old Boys juniors continued their run of victories to retain the lead in the grade, while in the intermediate division the conclusion of the second round left High School and H. 5.0.8, in equal fop position.
