SOCIAL INSURANCE DISCUSSIONS

The Parliamentary Secretary foi National Insurance. Mr T. Steele, said in the House of Commons that there had been preliminary discussions with New Zealand and Australia for reciprocity in national insurance benefits. Last year an Empire conference on social security and national insurance was held in" London, Departmental officers from all parts of the Empire discussed these questions and reported back to their respective Governments. The leader of the New Zealand delegation was Ihe chairman of the Social Security Commission, Mr. B. F. Waters, who is at present in Montreal for the International Labour Office conference, having been invited there by flic social services committee. From Montreal Mr. Walters will proceed to Britain for further discussions on social security reciprocity with particular reference to family benefits. New Zealand already has reciprocity with Australia in respect of age and invalidity, benefits. - ■*-
