JUNIOR HOCKEY
Play in the junior competitions of the P.B. Hockey Association was continued on the Gisborne grounds on Saturday morning. Results follow. Junior Girls. —School (A) 9 v. Intermediate 3; Intermediate (A) 4 v. School (B) 3. Junior Boys.—High School (B) 2 v. Intermediate (A) nil; High School (A) 4 v. Intermediate (B) nil. Some particularly bright play was witnessed in the girls’ School (A) game against Intermediate. For School, J. Atkinson. P. Williamson, A. White and P. Howie were prominent. J. Atkinson notched six goals. Other-goal scorers for School were A. White (2) and P. Howie. For Intermediate goals were scored by J. McCulloch, J. Dolman and M. Croskery. The younger Intermediate girls team deserve credit for the victory over the more experienced School (B) side. Goals were scored for Intermediate by M. Pere (3) and M. Kapuaroa, and for School by J. Menzies t2) and D. Compton. In the boys’ division High School (B) showed superior combination and were unlucky in failing to "add considerably to the tailv against Intermediate (A>. For High School Kohn, McNamara and Hambley were prominent, whilst the Intermediate player, Tamatea. displayed speed and control. Goals were scored oy Kohn and Hambley. In short-passing movements the High School (A) players, Roderick, Gregory Dc Clifford, cut through repeatedly against Intermediate (B). In the backs Underdown was safe and reliable. For Intermediate. Walsh was prominent in checking many attacks. The goals were secured by Olding, Underdown, Roderick and De Clifford.
