LONDON WOOL MARKET VERY FIRM

(2 p.m.) LONDON, June 4. The final sales of wool in the third series were held today with offerings totalling 16,889 bales, of which 16,031 were sold.

New Zealand submitted 8452, and Australia 7200 bales. Home trade and European competition was well maintained and a moderate selection was well cleared. Throughout the series a total of 140.000 bales were offered, of which 136.000 were sold.

The Home trade bought 7800, the Continent 51,000 and America 7000. The market generally was .very firm and competition keen. Compared with the closing prices of the second series Merinos were from 15 to 25 per cent, higher and others from 10 to 15 per cent higher.
