VALUES MAINTAINED AT LONDON WOOL SALES

LONDON, June 3.

Competition from the Home-trade and Europe was well maintained at the London wool sales today when 18,588 bales were offered New Zealand submitted 8861 and Australia 6771 bales. Compared with the closing prices last week the prices for greasy merinos were up to five per cent dearer and other sorts unchanged.

The Committee of London Woolbrokers has received advice that the London wool sales were continued on Thursday. The offerings of private shipments totalled 8150 bales, including 731 scoured. 1893 slipe, and 4612 greasy from New Zealand. Many clips from the East Coast, mainly second shearings and similar style to last week’s offerings were included. There was good competition from Bradford, well supported by the Continent, with Russia also operating, and very neany a total clearance. Last week’s rates ruled very firm for all New Zealand wools. Joint Organisation offered 8569 bales, including 1625 New Zealand, and there was a total clearance. The sales close today. The offerings of private shipments totalled 6623 bales, including 502 bales of scoured, 1565 bales of slipe, and 3868 bales of greasy wool clips from New Zealand, all similar to Thursday’s offerings. Competition remained good and the market closed firm Bradford was the principal buyer, being well supported by the Continent. There was very nearly a total clearance. Joint Organisation offered 10,266 bales, including 2517 bales from New Zealand, and there was a total clearance.
