(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 4. Giving evidence before the commission in inquiry into Ballantyne’s fire, Edmund Charles Gee, inspector for the M.E.D. for 24 years until last year, said he retested Ballantyne's installation in 1940. N
If during his inspection he saw anytning which in his opinion caused a risk or danger , to life, or property he would have disconnected it immediately. To Mr. E. S. Bowie for Thompson and Dorrecn, electrical engineers, witness said that if defective joints in the conductors had been there in 1940 he felt sure he \otould have seen them and, if he had, he would have reported on them.
